Do your eyes feel dry, or irritated? The problem may not be due to your eyes themselves, but your eyelids. Conditions such as Blepharitis, or Demodex infestation can cause your eyes to be inflamed or irritated.

Cliradex Eyelid Wipes Review

This is where Cliradex comes in, they manufacture natural and preservative-free eyelid, eyelash and facial cleansers. Their cleansers are formulated with 4-Terpineol (T40). 4-Terpineol is the most active ingredient of Tea Tree Oil that treat.

Demodex. These eyelid wipes help relieve symptoms of dry eyes, blepharitis, Demodex, and itch, dry, inflamed eyelid & skin conditions.

Although Cliradex manufactures two different products, this review I am going to be focusing on the eyelid wipes. These eyelid wipes come individually packaged kind of similar to alcohol pads or hand towelettes.

What are Demodex Mites?

These microscopic mites are a natural part of the human ecological community of microorganisms that live within and on the human body. There are two species of Demodex mites that are commonly found on humans.

  • Demodex Folliculorum – These mites are normally found in the hair follicles, usually on your face, but they are also found in the meibomian glands of the eyelids.
  • Demodex Brevis – These mites are usually found in the oil glands of human hair follicles. They are closely related to Demodex Follculorum.

Having Demodex is common, and the majority of the time they do not cause any symptoms. It is when there is a large number of them may cause issues such as red skin, rough texture to the skin, and a burning sensation.

4-Terpineol (T40) the Main Ingredient in Cliradex

Cliradex’s eyelid wipes are designed to remove any Demodex mite infestations that may be causing eye irritation. These eyelid wipes are completely natural and without any harsh artificial chemicals.

Tea tree oil has always been the best treatment to use against Demodex, however, researchers took 13 of the known 15 ingredients in tea tree oil and tested its effectiveness against Demodex. In the study, they found that all of the ingredients they tested could kill Demodex to a certain extent, but they were all dose-dependent, except for 4-Terpineol (T40). 4-Terpineol is the most abundant ingredient in tea tree oil and was more potent than pure tea tree oil in similar concentrations, and its killing effect of Demodex was even more effective than that of pure tea tree oil.

Cliradex Eyelid Wipes

I recently decided to give Cliradex a try after a recommendation from my eye doctor to help with my dry eyes. I have been using the eyelid wipes once a day for the last two weeks and I can honestly say my eyes feel a lot better. I never had any build up on my eyelashes, but the skin on my face always felt rough, some days more than others, but the Cliradex wipes have reduced the rough feeling and made the skin on my face feel much softer.

One other situation that improved from using the eyelid wipes is that I normally get excessively dry and flaky skin underneath my eyebrows, and from using the Cliradex wipes my skin underneath my eyebrows is not as dry and flaky as it was before

How To Use Cliradex Eyelid Wipes

Using Cliradex’s eyelid wipe is very simple, each towelette comes individually packaged. To start off you would first make sure that you wash and dry your hands with a lint-free towel before opening the packet. You would open the packet, take out the towelette, and unfold it.

Next close your eyes, but do so without squinting your eyes and gently clean your first eyelid and the surrounding facial areas without getting it into your eyes, repeat for your other eye.

If you are using these wipes for the first time, according to the manufacturer you may feel a cool, refreshing, menthol feeling. But it is more like a cool, burning, menthol feeling. From the feedback that I received from my family members, it seems to affect everyone differently. Some people feel like it’s burning and some do not mind the feeling, but the more you use them the less of the burning feeling you are going to feel and more of the refreshing feeling. If the burning feel does not go away after a few minutes, or you have an allergic reaction, stop using the product and contact your doctor as soon as possible.

If after using them for a while and you feel like it is still burning too much, Cliradex also manufactures a light foam cleanser that is less harsh that you can find here.

If you are more of a visual person, take a look at this video provided by Cliradex on how to use their eyelid wipes.

How Much Does Cliradez Eyelid Wipes Cost?

Cliradex’s eyelid wipes can be quite pricey as they run about $42.99 for a box of 24 directly from Cliradex. You can find them on Amazon, but the price isn’t that much better. Amazon has a double pack for $84.99, which would mean you would save a dollar, but if you keep an eye out occasionally they will have promotional codes running where you can get a percentage off their products.

Directly from Cliradex, you can also find the 24 pack of eyelid wipes packaged up in a starter kit that includes two of their foam face cleansers as well. The starter pack is currently on sale and you could get the entire kit for $99.99 which would save you about $23 dollars if you were to buy the box and two foam cleansers individually.

Final Thoughts

Are Cliradex’s eyelid wipes worth it? They most definitely are! Cliradex’s eyelid wipes offer you an effective as well as a convenient way to relieve symptoms of dry eyes, blepharitis, Demodex, and could provide you relief from itchy, or irritated eyelids. And it is small and easy to take along with you anywhere you need to go.

If you are still not convinced about the eyelid wipes you can check over at Amazon all of the positive reviews that the product has. Everyone seems to like the product, just not the cost, but many people feel like the cost is worth it to get rid of their eyelid conditions.

Have you used Cliradex’s eyelid wipes before? What was your experience with them? Let us know below! If you have any questions or comments don’t hesitate to leave them in the comment box below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

  1. Thanks for this very detailed article about the dry eye problem and the solution. My husband suffers sometimes from dry eyes, and he thinks it’s because of working too long with a computer or sometimes because of the contact lens. I must tell him about the Cliradex Eyelid Wipes. Hopefully the wipes will work for him and help him.

    • Hi Sandy, If your husband is working for extended periods of time in front of a computer as well as wearing contacts it could be from wearing contacts while on the computer. When you are focused on something you naturally blink less, which would dry out your contacts. He could benefit from wearing glasses while working on the computer.

  2. I only ever seem to have a problem with itchy and dry eyes when I have to go into London for work commitments (several times a month). I’m wondering if the bad city air could be the reason behind the dry feeling?

Could this change in environment cause the body to maybe produce or irritate the Demodex mites that gather around the eyelid area?

Very interesting article – these wipes seem like they are worth a go, every time I have a trip to the city.

    • HI Chris! You would definitely have to consult with your eye doctor as far as the mites. You wouldn’t know if you had them unless you got a biopsy of your skin done.

  3. I wonder if this is the problem I have with my eyes being itchy and red most of the time.  Especially in the evening after a long day in front of the computer.  I tried drops (visine and clear eyes), and they do help, but it’s something recurring that comes back almost everyday.

This is the first time I hear about these wipes and those microscopic mites (yark!).  I do have some of the symptoms you describe in your article, but not all of them. How does someone know if it really is these little pests that are the culprit?

    • Hi Denis, There is no way to know if you have them unless you go to your doctor’s office to undergo testing. The doctor’s office will have to conduct a biopsy and take some small tissue sample from your skin. Which would then have to be observed under a microscope to see if the mites are there.

  4. It scares me to hear that there are mites living on our body, natural as it is, but I don’t feel comfortable every time I hear it.

My eyes most of the time, feel very dry but at first , I thought maybe its the time I spend on my laptop. I spend above 60% of my time using laptop, at once I thought maybe I should buy glasses, I am still undecided as I feel that I must first seek advice from my doctor.

As I was reading your article, it was like I was reading my problem, you were so thorough. I will have to buy cliradex eyelid wipes  in the near future. Thank you so much for sharing such great info

  5. Hmm, this seems like an article for my dad actually. He always has irritated eyes so I wonder if these wipes will do the trick. It doesn’t seem to be too pricey either. Do you know if there are any side effects of it at all? Before I recommend it to my dad, I just wanted to be sure of this. Thanks!

    • As far as we know, the burning menthol feeling when you use it initially is the only side effect. It is also not recommended if you are allergic to tea tree oil.

  6. I learnt something new today. This is the first time that I have seen eye lid wipes. In fact I didn’t know about der Dermodex mites either until reading this article.

If left unattended, are these mites dangerous long term to our health?

I often have irritated eyes. Wonder if this is the cause

    • We would definitely recommend talking with your eye doctor as far as long term health or if you suspect you might have Demodex mites.

  7. It’s surprising to find out that dry eyes are caused by mites. I usually deal with dry eyes by wiping a damp paper towel over my eye lids, but these probably work better if they have tea tree oil in them. Tea tree oil is good for relieving all sorts of skin irritations. I often do oil pulling with coconut oil and a couple of drops of tea tree oil in it. The only downside is that it makes my mouth taste like furniture polish.

  8. For the last 2 years I´ve been suffering from blepharitis, chalazion and itchy eyes, I´ve been to many eye doctors but no one seem to find the problem until one doctor found I have demodex mites so he told me to clean my eyes with baby shampoo and to use Cliradex wipes twice a day, I was really optimistic about it after reading lots of good reviews about this wipes but I´ve been using them every day for the last month and the problem is still there, I´m starting to think the demodex mites are not the cause to my problem, I´m really desperate, It seems no ones knows how to cure this, if anyone knows someone with the same problem or anything that may help please tell me.
