Being able to go to your local Walmart and purchasing that new vacuum you need, as well as ordering your prescription contact lenses from the Walmart Vision Center is pretty convenient. But to be able to order your vacuum AND your contacts online at Walmart from home is even more convenient.

Being able to order your contact lenses on the internet not only saves you time, but it saves you money as well. There have been people that have mentioned to me that I was just being lazy and I should just go in-store, but it is not about laziness it is about being more efficient with my time.

Order Contacts Online At Walmart

Walmart is always looking for ways to make it easier and more affordable for its customers. The company is always striving to be that one-stop-shop, and offering an online option provides that one-stop vision experience so customers can decide if they want to go in-store or just order online. Let’s take a look at what Walmart has to offer when it comes to prescription contact lenses.

Walmart’s history with contact lenses

For those of you who don’t remember Walmart was once partnered up with 1800Contacts. It was a partnership that in my opinion was one that could have been one for the history books. You had the ability to go into your local Walmart and place orders for your contact lenses which would then be shipped from 1800Contacts to the Walmart store or directly to you. Alternatively, you were able to go directly to 1800Contacts and place an order and have it shipped to your local Walmart for pick up.

All that came to an abrupt end when 1800Contacts had new ownership and the partnership ended.

As abruptly as the partnership ended, Walmart launched its own contact lens website called Walmartcontacts.com.

Walmartcontacts.com

At the beginning of 2013 Walmartcontacts.com was launched, adding to the already comprehensive vision offerings that Walmart was already providing with their in-store Vision Centers, and in-club Optical Centers in Sam’s Club.

Walmart Contacts Homepage

Walmartcontacts.com provides a wide range of brands to choose from unless you are wearing and private label brands such as BioMedics or AquaTech you won’t find those here. Of the brands that they carry they offer a wide range of spherical, toric, multifocal, and colored contacts.

The best thing about it all is that they offer free standard shipping on all US orders. Most orders ship out within 48 hours out of their Columbus, OH distribution center, and arrives within 5-7 Business Days. They also offer expedited service if you need your contact lenses quickly.

Walmart itself generally offers low prices for many items, and contact lenses are no different. Unlike some of the other major online contact lens retailers, Walmart offers a price match guarantee if you were to find the same item at a lower price. You can easily get your order price matched by emailing or calling the customer service department, or you can leave the link to the lower-priced competitor in the “Coupon Codes and Special Instructions” field during checkout.

Does WalmartContacts.com Accept Vision Insurance?

Walmart takes many vision insurance plans, however, you will have to go down to your local Walmart Vision Center to be able to use your vision benefits, as they do not have a system to accept vision insurance online.

If you have an FSA or HSA card that is affiliated with Visa or MasterCard, you are able to use that card to purchase your prescription contacts from Walmartcontacts.com just as you would a regular credit card.

If you have VSP, MetLife, or Cigna Vision and you want to use your vision benefits online check out this article to see where you can use your benefits online.

Does Walmart Offer Prescription Glasses Online?

Walmart does offer prescription glasses as well on their website, however their prescription glasses online ordering system needs a huge revamp. It is currently quite a confusing system to use, and hard to figure out which frames you are able to order with a prescription and which ones are only frames. I honestly do not recommend it.

Customer Service

Walmartcontacts.com has customer service available to assist you with anything related to your order through their toll-free phone, or by email.

You can contact the customer service department Monday through Friday 8 am – 11 pm, Saturday from 9 am – 9 pm, and Sundays 12 pm – 7 pm.

Final Thoughts

Walmart al always finding ways to help its customers save money with their everyday low prices on many items and contact lenses are no exception. As one of the most trusted big-box retailers in the world, you can rest assured that you can place your order safely on their website.

Walmart.com also provides a wide range of contact lens solutions, contact lens cases, and eyedrops as well.

If you ready to make a contact lens order head over to Walmart’s Vision Center page.

  2. I’ll be honest. I never knew this was a thing. I get my contacts from Walmart all the time and never thought to ask them if I could do it online. Usually, I order them when I’m already doing other stuff but this will make life a lot easier. Thanks for writing about this!

  3. Oh wow…. being able to order contacts online at Walmart would certainly convenient.  I didn’t realize that Walmart offered that service.   I live in a small rural about 45 minutes away from the closest Walmart.    The other eye doctors and shops are even further away.

In all seriousness, I am glad that stumbled across this post tonight when I was looking for something else.   I need to visit an optician and get updated prescriptions.   I have waited too long as it is.  My excuse has been that I haven’t had time….  Yet, I go to Walmart every 3 weeks or so.   No more excuses for me.
